Ever been up at night and a bit drowsy? Of course. Has that feeling made you read about films you don't really care much about? I'll use this opener to let you know I've been rigorously following the director search for Fast and the Furious 7.
I saw the first two. The original film was fun when I was a kid. It just felt like a Point Break remake when I got older, but who would remake Point Break? (More on that later.) I skipped the other F&F sequels. Well, they are about to release the sixth installment directed by Justin Lin who directed the last four films, but now the studio is interested in popping these babies out at the speed of Land Before Time sequels.
Lin decided to back out for number seven because they want it out next summer. Today, they announced his successor...James Wan? Yeah. Director of Saw, Dead Silence, Insidious, The Conjuring, and a few other films not about living life a quarter mile at a time.
It'll be another film I don't see, but they couldn't have been more random if they announced Clint Eastwood as director. (Following further research of my last statement, I've determined that it would be more random after all.)
Also, did anyone else know they actually ARE remaking Point Break? They've announced a director today as well. Ericson Core will be behind the lens. I don't mind me some remakes, but...
