I'm auditioning for Theatre Downtown for the first time in three years. You should come to because they are casting for what I'm sure will be the craziest thing on stage this Summer.
From their Facebook Advert:
Alice in Slasherland
Auditions will be held Sunday March 24, 2013 from 1pm-5pm with possible callbacks to be held on Tuesday March 26, 2013 at 6:30pm.
Theatre Downtown proudly presents the Southeastern premiere of Qui Nguyen’s inventive and exciting horror comedy. When young Lewis Diaz accidentally resurrects the soul of a brutally slain girl named Alice, he unwittingly unleashes a literal hell on Earth. Now with every sort of demon, monster, and killer ravaging his small town, Lewis along with his new girlfriend must find a way to close the rift before the big bad evil devil himself shows up and totally ruins their senior prom.
All roles are available and auditions will consist of cold readings from the script. Rehearsals will begin in mid-April and show dates are June 6-8, 13-16 & 20-22, 2013. Please contact the director, Leslie Plaia, at email@example.com if you have any questions, concerns or cannot attend the audition.
Casting the following roles:
LEWIS (18-25) – a young, nerdy fan-boy who accidentally opens a rift in Hell. Naïve, virginal.
MARGARET (18-25) – a young, nerdy cheerleader. Sweet and tough when needed. Lewis’s best friend and the girl he’s been in love with since ‘forevs’.
ALICE (18-25) – a young teenage girl recently risen from the dead. Though dark-eyed and attractive, she has forgotten how to be human since her death and spends the course of the story ‘re-learning’ how to be normal. Whenever she’s “hungry”, she acts and moves like the girl from “The Ring”. When satiated though, she talks and moves like a regular (but badass) girl.
EDGAR (any) – a demonic teddy bear that fancies Alice in a romantic way. Though he’s from Hell, his speech and demeanor are very much influenced by contemporary hip-hop and he sounds remarkably like Tracy Morgan. This actor also plays: Duncan, high school quarterback; Gareth, a demon with a French accent.
TINA (any) – head cheerleader. Think Regina George. Will ultimately end up being the “big bad” of the story. This actor also plays the following roles: Hurt, a fat demon that hungers for flesh; Matilda, a winged demon; Deputy Barrow, a victim.
JACOB (any) – the slasher of slasherland. Think Michael Myers. This actor also plays: T-Bone, a mugger; Burnout, a fat demon that hungers for flesh; Tommy, a high school bully; Sheriff Dunwoody, a victim possessed by Gareth.
